At The Secret Space we offer the following types of massage, Holistic Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Sports Therapy Massage, Remedial Massage, Indian Head Massage, Hot Stone Massage and Lymphatic Drainage Massage. Treatments are available seven days a week, including evening appointments.

Ayurvedic Yoga Massage

This beautiful floor massage uses elements of Ayurveda and passive stretches from Iyengar yoga – you do not need to have attended a yoga class. I use oil and Ayurvedic Calamus root powder to deliver a gentle deep tissue massage. I’ll encourage you to breathe deeply throughout which facilitates embodiment, healing and awareness of our authentic self. This is a full body massage that includes the back, shoulders, arms, neck, legs, abdomen and face.

Aromatherapy Massage

During a full body aromatherapy massage, you will benefit from the therapeutic effect of the essential oils, as well as the truly relaxing nature of the massage. Essential oils can help with a range of issues including muscular aches and pains, digestive issues, anxiety, depression, sleep problems and much more.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is a specific type of massage therapy that concentrates on the deep layers of muscle and fascia in the body. During a Deep Tissue Massage, the therapist will use elbows, knuckles and forearms to access the deeper layers of tissue, helping to relieve deep knots and tension.

Deep Tissue Massage can help to reduce chronic pain and aid rehabilitation from injured muscles. It can assist with breaking up scar tissue in the muscles and help mobility.

Holistic Massage

All massage can help to relieve stress, tension, fatigue, insomnia and muscular pain. It can increase blood circulation and lymphatic flow, disperse knots of muscular tension, relax connective tissue and aid in the elimination of toxins and waste products. It can also increase joint mobility and flexibility in the body.

In a Holistic Massage the client will gain the benefits throughout their whole body.

Hot Stone Massage

In a Hot Stone Massage warmed stones are placed on the body and used by the therapist to provide a deep and warming massage throughout the body.

The stones are immersed in water and heated in an electric heater until they are within a certain temperature range. The heat of the stones warm and relax the muscles, which allows the therapist to apply deeper pressure, if desired.

The warmth of the hot stones improves circulation and calms the nervous system.
Some massage therapists place stones on points that are thought to be energy centres of the body to rebalance the body and mind.

A hot stone massage is likely to leave you feeling comforted and relaxed.

Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage is a non-intrusive treatment focusing on the head, neck and shoulder areas. It is a deeply relaxing treatment based on the ancient Ayurvedic system of healing.

Indian Head Massage can help to relieve built up stress and tension that can often result in headaches, migraines, neck and back pain. It can help ease symptoms of sinusitis, and release tension often held in the jaw (for example by clenching teeth due to stress). It aids detoxification by stimulating lymphatic drainage, can improve circulation, and boost overall immunity. It can help promote clarity of mind and increase concentration. It may also help relieve sleeplessness, restlessness and insomnia.

An Indian Head massage may also improve overall mental health by providing relief from stress, promoting relaxation, renewing energy levels and increasing feelings of peace, calm and well being, which can all help in relieving symptoms of anxiety and depression.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is a great way to resolve chronic and acute pain. The general principle is to bring blood to areas of muscle that are tense and so offer relief. Problems that are best addressed by a sports massage are back pain, shoulder pain, knee pain and foot pain. At the beginning of the session you will be assessed and a treatment plan will be formulated. Modalities that may be used include stretching, posture assessment, mobilisations, muscle activations and massage to address and resolve any musculoskeletal problems.
At the end of the session exercises may be prescribed as part of a continuing treatment.

Pregnancy Massage

Massage during pregnancy can be extremely beneficial for mother and baby, and is tailored specifically to the individual needs of each client and their rapidly changing bodies.   It can help to reduce any stress and anxiety you may be carrying, promote relaxation, and aid with backache, muscular and  joint pain, circulation and your general sense of wellness.

The massage takes place with the client in a side lying or prone position where you can relax and even drift off. We appreciate every-body is unique and you can specify which areas you would like special attention paid to, and which areas (if any) you would prefer not to be touched.

Benefits of pregnancy massage

Pregnancy massage can help to relieve muscle cramps, spasms and myofascial pain – especially in the lower back, neck, hips and legs. It helps to reduce stress on weight-bearing joints.
