Men’s Group at the Secret Space
6 week series with Mark Burgon
Join Mark in this weekly group where men can speak openly about their mental health in a judgment-free, non-clinical environment. We want to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health and create a judgement-free, confidential space where men can be open about the storms in their lives.
Male suicide is the biggest killer of men under 50, with male mental health surrounded by well-ingrained cultural stigma in the UK.
In this group you will work together to break the stigmas associated with “Mental Health”. These stigmas – perceiving ourselves as weak, a burden, an embarrassment, are what stop men from speaking out. We are helping pave the way for men to know that IT’S OK TO TALK and to break these stigmas.
What is a support group?
A men’s support group is all about men supporting men and facilitating a safe, trusting environment where we can express ourselves freely. There is no fixed agenda or pressure to reveal personal experiences unless we are ready to do so. Our common aim is to develop mentally, emotionally and spiritually
What will we talk about?
This will be guided by the needs of the group each time we meet. These are some of the most common topics that come up in men’s groups:
Divorce
Being a better dad
Improving mental health
Addiction to porn, food, alcohol, drugs
Communicating better
Understanding emotions
Career and/or purpose confusion
Personal finance issues…
Suitable for all for men aged over 18.
About Mark:
Hello I’m Mark and I’m passionate about improving mental health especially with men like myself who may be, or who have, encountered difficult life events and who would benefit from the support of like-minded men in an atmosphere which is accepting and non-judgemental.
I am a father and grandfather and have experienced divorce, loss and bereavement throughout my life which has brought with it the challenges of depressive episodes and anxiety.
My career started in Graphic Design and later as a Counsellor and Play Therapist, working with children and young people.
Through my own journey I realised there is a need for a safe space for men to express themselves in an atmosphere where they can support each other.
