Introduction to Trauma Sensitive Yoga with Esme

This workshop is designed for individuals who are interested in understanding how trauma can be healed through yoga.

The workshop was first held in April, and this time there will be more exploration into the theory, several short optional practice sessions and including a ‘normal’ yoga practice for comparison

About Trauma Sensitive Yoga

Esme is a trained TCTSY-F (Trauma-Centre-Trauma- Sensitive-Yoga Facilitator). TCTSY was founded in the early 2000’s by David Emerson and Jenn Turner through The Justice Resource Institute in Massachusetts, USA.

It is recognised by SAMHSA (Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration) as an evidenced based treatment for Complex PTSD. A common symptom of C-PTSD is a feeling of dissociation within the body & the world around you. This is referred to as ‘somatic disassociation’ and can have a profound effect on how we are able to understand our own physical & emotional needs.

The practice of TCTSY has its roots in Hatha Yoga. Within this safe space, you are invited to explore ‘having a body’ and to move through a series of shapes inviting choice making based on your own individual interoceptive experience.

This experience of empowerment helps to quite literally rewire the brain, leading to a reclaiming of one’s body, enabling you to live the life that is waiting for you.

Suitable for Yoga beginners and experienced practitioners alike.
